Liner notes - JUST AN OLD COWBOY

This album was my second journey into the world of recorded documentation of some of my works from the period, 1992 to 1994. I had only begun to recognize what I was doing as a form of art rather than just "playin' with words."

The title song on the album came from a much earlier period before I began writing poetry seriously. It just seemed to be "Me," and I thought it would be a fitting title as the album was mostly about my experiences, either real or imagined. "A Day in the Life of a Cowboy" was all from life experience and the places were real. This was the first piece I ever wrote that I didn't have to go back and memorize, as it became a vivid video in my mind.

The Marty Robbins version of "Strawberry Roan" has always been a favorite of mine. I included it because I wanted something traditional on the album.

I was certainly surprised and pleased when the album was nominated by the Academy of Western Artists for their second year awards. I'm also pleased to know that other performers are using some of these works. If you choose to purchase this album I do hope that you enjoy it. It's a slice of me. I'm just an old cowboy.
