Romance of the West
The romance of the West comes from the hearts of its people.
A celebration of the adventure of the open range, the friendships
made at warm campfires and the love of the Cowboy lifestyle.
While few of us live this life today, the "Spirit of
the West" is captured in music, poetry and colorful storytelling
through those that preserve...a time not so long ago.
If this is your first time saddlin' up to listen to this style
of Americana, we hope you enjoy it. If you've ridden' this
trail before?
then you already know what to do
.sit
back, slack your cinch, grab a cup of Cowboy Coffee and drift
with the sounds and images created here by four of the best
western entertainers in the business today; Dave Stamey, Larry
Maurice, Sourdough Slim and Les Buffham.
Why Cowboys 'Round the Campfire?
When I was youngster growing up in Ohio, I (like many kids)
went to the Saturday movie matinees to see Roy Rogers, Gene
Autry and the Lone Ranger. In later years, I watched them
on TV.
Then I went on to college. A career followed, and ultimately,
a family. In those years, I pretty much forgot about my heroes
of the silver screen. But fate (or destiny) brought me to
Republic Pictures Studio as President & CEO in 1994. Roy,
Gene and The Lone Ranger called "The Lot" home for
many years. I actually got to meet these long time heroes
from my childhood and it rekindled in me great memories of
the past; provided exciting memories for the present, and
opened the door into the "Cowboy Lifestyle;" I am
blessed to have walked through too have found many new friends,
that share in a lifestyle that has its roots in one of the
greatest periods of America's heritage.
With a desire to develop and share many of the great tastes
of the American West; I have launched a new company, Cattleman's
Trading Company, and am introducing a line of food products
under the Chuckwagon's Best trademark - Cowboy Coffee, Beef
Strips, Biscuit Flour and Corn Meal; all authentic, all first
quality.
Most excitingly, I have worked with four of my favorite Cowboy
Entertainers to put together this CD compilation. It offers
a unique blend of traditional western music, poetry and storytelling
from four of America's finest Western artists.
I hope you enjoy their talent and passion as much as I do.
Happy Trails
